Community-Based Instruction
Community-based instruction is critical in making sure that students are able to perform skills in a functional and meaningful manner. To this end, it is not enough to go out into the community for a field trip. Developing a program with a strong emphasis on community based instruction may require creative ways to meet student needs and provide staff support.
Community-based instruction may include:
•  Practicing life skills
•  Participation in community activities and events
•  Support for behavioral difficulties
•  Training and coaching
