Applied Behaviior Analysis (ABA), Autism and Access - What do you need and how do you get it?

At this workshop you will:
•Learn about applied behavior analysis (ABA)
•Discover strategies and techniques based upoon ABA to help individuals
•Learn ways to access services through health insurance and other avenues


Presenter:
Karen Umstead, M.Ed, BCBA, Executive Director of Beautiful Minds of Princeton

In addition to having a family member with autism, Ms. Umstead is a certified elementary and special education teacher and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She works with schools/agencies, families, and health insurance companies to provide services related to education, behavior, social skills, and transition.

 Autism - Teaching Core Subject Areas and Integrating Social and Behavior Supports

Karen Umstead, M.Ed, BCBA, Executive Director of Beautiful Minds of Princeton - will provide a brief overview of autism after which participants will learn strengths and weaknesses in specific academic areas such as reading, writing, math and techniques to address these common problems. Ways to integrate behavioral and socials supports will also be discussed.

 Treatment Interity - What Is It and How Do We Get It?

Karen Umstead, M.Ed, BCBA, Executive Director of Beautiful Minds of Princeton - “Treatments must be implemented as designed to accurately show the effect of the intervention upon the target behavior. We will discuss evaluating multiple dimensions of treatment integrity, identify barriers to integrity, and discuss possible solutions for home and school settings.”

OUTCOMES:
  • Participants will be able to label and defiine multidimensional components of treatment integrity; includin variables
  • Participants will be able to identify at least four methods of assessing treatment integrity
  • Participants will be able to label at least 3 solutions to common challenges to high treatment integrity in school and home settings
